Kona was Christina's first. Then he was ours. A boxer with a happy little nub that started wiggling the second you walked in the door and pretty much never stopped.

He was good company in the way the best ones are. He could get talkative when the mood struck, and if you'd had a rough day he had a way of asking about it and making it feel better. He loved to sleep and he loved to snuggle. He was happiest out on the boat, on a long walk, or riding along in his little carrier on the back of the bike, taking it all in.

When you got home, nobody got a bigger welcome than you did. Five minutes gone or five days, it was the same full hello, whole body into it, nub going. He had a way of making you feel like the best thing that happened to him all day.

So when we built something to sit with candidates and make hiring feel like help instead of a hurdle, the name chose itself. Looking for a job can be lonely and uncertain, and no one should have to go through it alone. We wanted this to do what Kona always did: put people at ease, actually ask how you are doing, and stay good company while you tell us about yourself.

He is gone now, but the name keeps him close. Every warm hello it gives carries a little of him.
